Watson Farm-Rhode Island

BAY VIEW: Oil on linen board; 16x12: My inspiration for this painting were dark cedars,  old stone walls, and the blue of Narragansett Bay beyond. Grazing livestock is an important part of the Watson Farm story, so I exercised "artists license" and relocated  the flock.

BARNYARD AT WATSON FARM: Oil on linen board; 16x12:
Plein air sketch. I was inspired by the slanting afternoon sun; as I was finishing the sketch a white goose and several barn-yard ducks wandered up from a nearby pond, bringing life to the entire scene. I like the spontaniety of this alla prima piece, which needed no subsequent modification.
