Cathedral Beside the Road

Birches and Stone Walls along the  Road: Oil on Linen 9x12

Our road is bordered by stone walls and old farm fields which are slowly returning to forest.
First to grow in are the Birch Trees, followed in short order by Hemlock.

Actually, what motivated me about this spot, but which I wasn't able to capture...was the way the shimmering sun light bounced through the autumn leaves, as light through a stained glass window, shimmering and reflecting colors onto the rocks and woodland floor.
