Spring Pasture

Spring Pasture-Cook Farm:
Holyoke Range
Hadley
Oil on Canvas: 9x12: Quickly, in Plein Air:
I love cows in fields; but by the time it came to paint the cows in this field
they had wandered off  to greener pastures.

Ice Fishing

Ice Fishing- plein air   painted from the warm side of my window...Oil on Linen 14x18.
Even when it's bitter cold and the wind blows, there are groups of ice-fishermen
out and about on "our" lake. Some congregate into groups; others hang out by themselves.

Love plein air...

Love plein air; Quotations from "Hawthorne on Painting" by Charles W. Hawthorne

"Do studies, not pictures. Know when you are licked — start another. Be alive, stop when your interest is lost. Put off finish — make a lot of starts.  Realize the value of putting down your first impression quickly. Swing a bigger brush — you don't know what you're missing. Paint what you see, not what you know. To see things simply is the hardest thing in the world."
